CARE FOR YOUR NEW PIERCING

Always wash your hands before handling your piercing, and don’t let anyone else touch it until it’s healed! We recommend non-iodized sea salt and water to clean your piercing.

Mix 8 oz. water with 1/4 teaspoon non-iodized sea salt

Stronger mixtures may cause cellular damage, skin cracking, and other complications. Soak the piercing in this solution, and wash the area with antibacterial soap 2-3 time daily. Use a sponge Q-tip as cotton will leave debris that can agitate and inflame a piercing. For piercings below the neck a small glass is often helpful salt soak. Make sure to wash all discharge from piercing and jewelry, but do not over clean, as the irritation can be more damaging. Do not sue alcohol or peroxide, since either can kill forming skin and blood cells and prevent healing. Do not use ointments as they are petroleum based and will trap fluids and prevent proper healing. Soaking the area in warm water or laying a warm washcloth over it can increase blood flow and promote healing.

Oral piercings: No open mouth oral contact to any part of another person, kissing, etc. Rinse with a non alcoholic antibacterial mouthwash after eating. Use ice for swelling or pain as needing. Use the 8 oz. water to 1/4 tsp. sea salt mixture as a mouth rinse twice a day and apply to outside for lips. Avoid Alcohol and smoking as much as possible and use mouthwash when not avoided.
